If you hadn’t noticed, the speech bubble on the banner of my blog changed to something like this:
Yeap, no more holiday, as Year 2 classes have started.
Last Monday marked the commencement of a new semester for the second year of my LLB programme. As we are returning students, we do not get any kind of orientation. Hence, when I turn up for class on last Tuesday (the first class of the semester), I literally got a nervous shock (and certain degree of star struck). 130 students attended the lecture and 70% of them are new faces to me, since 2 other intake was merged with my Intake for Year 2.
Throughout the entire week, I was sticking with my 1st year intake’s friends. So far, only 3 person whom i had yet to know had talked to me… and I was pretty nervous when they did so. Sigh. Everytime I encounter strangers or new faces, i will be very nervous because I felt insecure to expose myself to something or someone new. The only chance where i get to know my new classmates a little more is during one of the tutorial, where our lecturer asked us to introduced ourselves. Hope I can get close with some of them soon.
New faces aren’t the only challenges I faced. Tougher subjects, too, screwed me good in the past week. Aside from having a hard time adjusting myself from the holiday mood to study, the subjects in my second year are way tougher than the first year’s. 2nd Year lecturers are told to be less “spoon-feeding” to us than the 1st Year lecturers, which is a good move to train us to be independent while learning, in order to adapt ourselves into the foreign University teaching style. As a result of such good move, bullet-speed lectures made most of us confuse and we miss out many important points, and we are expected to research ourselves on the points we had missed. Sigh, hope I can get used to the speed as soon as possible.
2nd year does not seems fun to me, not when compared to my 1st year… I miss my 1st year badly. I miss the craziness in my 1st year intake: the people, the happenings, the family-ness! I miss the moments where we can literally sing together in the law ball, where we go picnic in the urban jungle, where we sing happy birthday while there isn’t anybody’s birthday, and when we greeted “Selamat Pagi Cikgu” while lecturers are walking into classroom, and “Terima Kasih Cikgu” when they walked out, almost bursting their stomach in laughter. Every each of the little things in year 1 made us looking forward to attend class.
Heck! Those are the good old memories that are meant to be kept. Whats real and present is the stress and the nervousness that I will need to cope with.
Hope that Year 2 will turn out to be greater than I expect. Amen. =)
