After the tiring night, I slept for a long 8 hours before waking up. Soon after, Dennis picked me up from the hotel and we kick started the day with some legendary ckt nomming!

Lorong Selamat Char Kuey Teow [om nom nom No. 8]

Priced at a whooping RM9. However, the price worth its every single cents: The ckt is simply fabulous. It is fried under charcoal fire, so the chef cannot control the fire, and it is all up to her (it’s an aunty!) skill to fried the dish to it’s desired flavour before being overcooked. The outcome is speechlessly amazing. It is fried dry to be non-sticky, and the wok hei gave the ingredients and the noodles the flavour that is mouth savour enough to make it to national headlines. What I heard is the aunty was even invited by the local government to represent Penang food in some International Food Festival. Although they gave slightly lesser bean sprout and cockles compared to other stalls, the generous servings of 5 big prawns definitely save the day. The prawns aren’t there just to look nice, mind you, they are fried to tenderness and one bite to this juicy shrimp can make you fly. It made me fly, at least.

…so large, so juicy, i can DIE! *sounds wrong*

After the legendary ckt, we went to a shop selling fishes, called CTY Aquarium, well known as the largest live fish shop in South East Asia. It was located next to Tune Hotel, so it’s just walking distance from the lorong selamat ckt, perfect for digesting the brunch! *no picture because taking picture inside is prohibited*

After watching fishes and some other scary pets (such as spider, snakes, scorpion…) it’s time for lunch!! @.@

Asam Laksa [om nom nom No. 9]

RM4. The corner shop lot located opposite Penang Chinese Girl School. The soup is not as sour as those found in KL, but it is definitely thicker in terms of sardine fish! Also served with mint leaves to add fragrant to the dish. Nice!~

Fried Popiah [om nom nom No. 10]

Under Mark’s recommendation, we also ordered the fried popiah to be dipped inside the thick laksa soup. The combination turn out to be surprisingly great as both mixed and matched well together. The popiah, ate on its own, is a gone case, however =x

After lunch, we went walking (and digesting our lunch) at several attraction places.

Firstly, the Penang Botanical Garden:

The garden was somewhat like Taman Pertanian in Shah Alam, except that it had a water treatment site in there. Walking one circle at the Garden is enough to sweat my whole body.

Next up, we went to visit the Clan Jetties:

Listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was protected from the rapid development of the Penang Island (i.e: demolishing and rebuilding). Located at Weld Quay, it showcased the lifestyle of the original Chinese immigrants who first settled here in Penang. Several different jetty hosts different clan of families (there’s this Chew Jetty for the Chew families, and Tan Jetty for the Tan families etc etc), but their cultures and lifestyles are all about the same.

It’s near sunset, so we went to Genting Hill:

Bukit Genting Hill, located at Jalan Teluk Kumbar of Balik Pulau.

The road route to the hilltop is sloppy and scary. It was so narrow it only caters for one vehicle at a time. At night, the road is fairly dim and without lit streetlights… so it is quite dangerous… but the breathtaking sunset scenery definitely worth the ride.

for dinner, Mark and William joined us again, and we went to eat Lok Lok!!! *no picture because I’m so hungry i don’t bother to take picture anymore*… The Lok Lok was nothing close to screamingly amazing, but me likey, both the atmosphere and the company! =D

For dessert, we chilled at the Crepe Cottage again!

Mango Cup [om nom nom No. 11]

Remember that in the last post, i said that the Chocolate Crepe with Nutella and Banana is heavenly but yet not their best dish? Now, this mango cup IS their best dish! The warm and crusty crepe in bowl shape, together with generous quantity of sweet and fresh mango cubes and two big scope of mango ice cream, topped with whipped cream and crushed peanuts, the combination is a blast to all mango and even non-mango lovers. Despite the gigantic serving, it only costs RM11!

The effect?

…and also a slight increase in our weight and tummy size >.<
