Sleep, is a naturally recurring state of relatively suspended sensory and motor activity in animals, characterized by total or partial unconsciousness and the nearly complete inactivity of voluntary muscles. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli, and it is more easily reversible than hibernation or coma. It is observed in all mammals, including humans, all birds, and many reptiles, amphibians, and fish. In humans, other mammals, and a substantial majority of other animals that have been studied (such as some species of fish, birds, ants, and fruit flies), regular sleep is essential for survival.

Sleep deprivation, having too little sleep, can be either chronic or acute. Long-term sleep deprivation causes death in lab animals. A chronic sleep-restricted state can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness and weight gain. Complete absence of sleep over long periods is impossible to achieve; brief microsleeps cannot be avoided.

Having said above, sleeping is undoubtly important for us to maintain energetic, hyper and sane in our daily conduct. A person who had little sleep would tend to respond slower, developed headache, memory lapse or loss, yawning, stressed out easily, abnormal behaviour etc.

For the past 2 week, I had have very limited sleep, where there’s 2 day I didn’t sleep at all, and most of the days i slept at around 4am, only to wake up by 6am. It would gave me barely 2 hour to sleep.
